This historic town in the valley below Klínovec is world-renowned as the cradle of uranium mining, the site of the world’s first radon spa, and the place where the historic Jáchymov thaler originated—the currency from which the name “dollar” was derived. Jáchymov lies off the main ridge route of the highway, and to visit it, you must take a steep descent from Boží Dar or Klínovec along bike trail No. 2005, which covers a massive elevation gain of 500 meters over 8 kilometers. In town, you can explore the Royal Mint or the Jáchymov Hell nature trail, and you can safely lock your bikes in the racks near the Agricola Aquacenter or the Information Center. To help cyclists avoid the grueling climb back up to the ridge, there’s essential logistical support in the form of the Prima Express four-seat chairlift, which runs from the lower station near Jáchymov (at the roundabout toward the chairlift), which takes cyclists and their bikes back up to Klínovec
