This former royal mining town—a title bestowed upon it by Emperor Rudolf II as early as 1597—lies at an elevation of 843 meters directly along Highway 23, which serves as a natural starting or finishing point for stages here. This village, with its turbulent 20th-century history, captivates visitors with its rugged mountain architecture, the absence of a traditional church—which had to be demolished in the past due to its poor condition—and the mysterious “Krušnohorské oko” pond in a flooded mine shaft. For cyclists, the village is an ideal place to stop safely and rest. In the center of the village, there is a cycling trail signpost and several certified cycling guesthouses with locked bike storage areas. You can safely lock your bikes right next to the municipal office building or near the outdoor seating areas of the local bistros.
