This historic mining town, nestled in a valley below the ridge of the Ore Mountains, is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site thanks to its centuries-old tradition of tin mining. If you want to visit its sights, such as the historic center, Krupka Castle, or the medieval Starý Martin adit, you’ll need to descend from the No. 23 ridge highway via a steep drop down Road No. 253, with an elevation drop of over 450 meters. To return to the ridge of the Ore Mountains and the main trail, you don’t have to pedal up an extremely steep hill, because the oldest operational chairlift in the Czech Republic runs from the Bohosudov district to Komáří vížka, routinely and comfortably transporting cyclists and their bikes.
