The Baroque Jezeří Castle, known as the “castle at the crossroads of two worlds,” stands on a steep slope of the Ore Mountains and offers a fascinating yet stark view directly into the deep pit of an open-pit mine. Although Ridge Trail No. 23 runs several hundred meters higher through Nová Ves v Horách, the detour to the castle along the marked trails via Dřevařský Pond and Červený Kříž offers a wonderful experience on paved forest roads. The approach to the castle gate itself consists of a short, rocky, and steeper section where it’s better to dismount from your bike. Although bicycles aren’t allowed inside the castle’s exhibits, the site’s management is accustomed to cyclists, and bikes can be safely locked within sight of staff—either in the designated parking area by the ticket office or in the outer bailey.
