This picturesque mountain town with a rich mining history—where silver and copper were mined intensively as early as 1520—is located very close to the national border. Although the main Route 23 runs past the town, the detour from Malý Háj is definitely worth it. The biggest attraction is the majestic stone observation tower Hláska on Růžový Hill (729 m above sea level) on the southern edge of the village, reached from the town square via a steep but fully paved road that is accessible to bicycles. Right at the base of the tower and in the adjacent restaurant, you can comfortably rest and recharge after the challenging climb, grab a bite to eat, and enjoy the beautiful view of the surrounding countryside and neighboring Saxony. On the way back down to the Kateřinský Stream valley, you can visit the historic Mikulášská Adit.
